Digital Scholarship Interns

Welcome to the official blog of the Carleton Digital Scholarship Interns!

Digital Scholarship Intern is a paid academic year term position jointly sponsored by the Career CenterAcademic Technology, the Humanities Center, and the Library. Every year at Carleton the Digital Humanities department hires four interns who specialize in four areas: back end development, front end development, ethics, and accessibility. The interns work year-round on various research projects, development projects, and professional development.

This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in gaining professional skills and learning more about the growing field of digital scholarship. This includes skills in web development, accessibility and inclusive design, digital ethics and privacy, as well as project management methods and technologies (especially helpful for comps). Interns will work collaboratively on meaningful individual and group tasks that contribute to digital scholarship work being done across campus. They will receive supervision and ongoing professional mentoring from librarians, faculty, and academic technologists related to their learning goals.

This blog serves as a place for reports, research, and reflections. The interns post individual updates several times each term, and there are also pages for group projects and long term work. Check in here to see what this year’s interns are up to!
